A dispute over a Digital UPI payment turned violent in Tenali’s Guravayya Colony, Andhra Pradesh, when a female customer attacked a clothing shop owner, Arundhati, with scissors. The argument escalated after the customer claimed she had made the payment, while the shop owner stated it had not been received. The customer slashed the shop owner’s throat during the argument. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for medical care, and police have launched an investigation.
The severe altercation of digital payment transaction resulted in a violent attack at the clothing store. The incident occurred when a female customer clashed with the shop owner, identified as Arundhati, regarding an unconfirmed Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transaction.
How an UPI payment issue started the Dispute?
The conflict began after the customer completed her shopping and claimed that she had successfully transferred the required amount through a UPI payment application. However, the shop owner stated that she had not received the credit notification or payment confirmation on her device.
The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument, with both individuals exchanging sharp words inside the store premises. As the confrontation grew more intense, the customer seized a pair of scissors available in the shop and slashed the shop owner’s throat.
Local residents and nearby shopkeepers intervened immediately following the attack, rushing the severely injured shop owner to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.
Local police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident. Law enforcement officers registered a case based on preliminary information and initiated a formal investigation to verify the transaction records and apprehend the accused.
