Police Arrest BRS MLCs Thatha Madhu, Naveen Kumar

on

BRS political friction intensified across Telangana after law enforcement officers detained two senior opposition legislators during early morning operations in Hyderabad. Official police notifications confirm that BRS MLCs Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar faced arrest proceedings related to an escalating verbal altercation incident recorded outside the state legislative complex.

Police officials initiated legal proceedings after Pollepalli Venkatesham, Officer on Special Duty to Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, lodged an official complaint. The complaint states that during an opposition protest at the Assembly security area, the two legislators publicly directed abusive, foul, and defamatory remarks toward the Speaker. Because the Speaker belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, investigators booked the opposition leaders under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita alongside stringent sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act.

What Was The BRS Reaction To The Police Arrests?

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders staged immediate demonstrations outside the Narayanguda Police Station to protest the morning detentions. Party representatives labeled the police action illegal and politically motivated, arguing that the comments were directed at police personnel managing security barricades rather than the Speaker. BRS leaders criticized the state administration for suppressing opposition voices and mishandling peaceful democratic protests.

Following preliminary questioning at local police stations, authorities prepared court documentation to produce both legislators before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally for judicial remand. Meanwhile, police are continuing investigations into broader Assembly gate confrontations involving several senior political figures.

Heightened political confrontations between ruling and opposition parties continue to dominate state legislative proceedings. Observers expect further judicial hearings as legal teams challenge the formal charges.
