The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming home series against the West Indies. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was omitted from the ODI team. Consequently, Nitish Kumar Reddy was pulled out of the Asian Games roster to join the ODI setup. Meanwhile, injured spinner Varun Chakaravarthy missed out on the Asian Games squad, with Vipraj Nigam replacing him.
The Senior Men’s Selection Committee announced Team India’s squads for the limited-overs series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on September 27. The tour features a three-match ODI series followed by five T20 International matches. The primary highlight of the selection was the exclusion of senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the 50-over squad. To fill the pace-bowling all-rounder slot, the selectors included Andhra Pradesh player Nitish Kumar Reddy in the ODI squad.
Due to his inclusion in the senior ODI team against the West Indies, Nitish Kumar Reddy was officially withdrawn from the Asian Games roster. The selection committee chose to retain him for national duties in the ODI setup following his strong performances. In another major update, mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy was ruled out of both the T20I match against Japan and the Asian Games due to a side strain. Uncapped Delhi Capitals spinner Vipraj Nigam was named as his official replacement in the updated Asian Games squad.
