Cyclone Arnab has become a major weather focus as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal moves towards the North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast. The India Meteorological Department said the system is very likely to cross the coast near Kalingapatnam as a deep depression on today night.

In Andhra Pradesh, schools were ordered shut in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitharama Raju and Anakapalle districts on today. Disaster-response teams have also been deployed in vulnerable areas to handle potential emergencies and assist affected communities.
IMD warned of squally winds along and off the North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts, with gusts potentially reaching 75 kmph. Strong winds are also expected along parts of the South Andhra Pradesh coast.Odisha authorities have placed vulnerable districts on alert, while rescue teams and emergency equipment have been positioned in areas at risk.
