APSRTC Put On High Alert Amid Torrential Rains

on

Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy issues APSRTC directions to public transportation officials as torrential rains continue to impact multiple districts across the state. The minister directed state transport corporation authorities to implement stringent safety protocols and maintain round-the-clock vigilance to prevent road accidents and avoid passenger inconvenience during adverse weather conditions.

Minister Ramprasad Reddy instructed APSRTC depot managers and regional operational commanders to conduct comprehensive vehicle safety checks before clearing buses for public routes. Officials must ensure that essential safety mechanisms, including wipers, braking systems, and headlights, function perfectly to handle poor visibility and heavy road downpours safely.

Why Are APSRTC Drivers Avoiding Floods?

APSRTC officials ordered drivers to avoid crossing flooded streams, causeways, and submerged bridges where water currents pose extreme life-threatening hazards. Drivers are instructed to suspend movement or alter routes whenever water levels exceed established safe operational thresholds, guaranteeing that passenger welfare remains paramount during heavy rainfall events.

The transport ministry established dedicated control rooms to monitor real-time weather forecasts, road conditions, and route disruptions. APSRTC officials remain in constant communication with district administration authorities and state disaster response forces to address emergency travel requirements, clear road blockages, and deploy relief transportation wherever needed.

Bus station supervisors were tasked with maintaining clean shelter facilities, broadcasting accurate trip schedule updates, and providing assistance to stranded commuters. Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy emphasized that proactive operational management and strict driver compliance will ensure seamless passenger transit while maintaining zero safety compromises across Andhra Pradesh during the monsoon season.
