The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted a comprehensive 600-page chargesheet in Bhopal detailing the extreme mental cruelty that led to the tragic suicide of 34-year-old actress and former Miss Pune, Twisha Sharma. The investigative agency booked her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh—a retired district judge—under Sections 85, 108, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment to suicide, concluding that relentless psychological torment left the victim with no alternative but to end her life.
The chargesheet provides a minute-by-minute account of the final 90 minutes before her death. At 9:36 PM, Twisha sent a poignant WhatsApp message to her sister-in-law, stating, “Tell your brother to come collect his wife’s remains tomorrow morning. Let me die in peace now.” Surveillance footage captured her walking toward the terrace shortly thereafter. At 10:23 PM, Samarth and Giribala moved toward the terrace before rushing her to AIIMS Bhopal, where physicians declared her brought dead. Prior to the incident, Twisha had tearfully called her parents, pleading for rescue from escalating abuse.
Investigators highlighted months of persistent harassment following the couple’s marriage on December 9. Twisha was subjected to severe verbal hostility, constant suspicion regarding past relationships, and intense financial coercion to transfer her ₹20 lakh demat investments into a joint account. Cruelty escalated further in April when the family coerced her into terminating a pregnancy, only to subsequently accuse her of being a killer and question the child’s paternity.
A second autopsy performed at AIIMS Delhi confirmed death by hanging with no external assault marks. While the chargesheet has been filed, CBI authorities are continuing forensic examinations of audio samples, digital evidence, and dowry harassment angles.
