Story of Korean Kanakaraju:
Set against the backdrop of Penukonda in Anantapur district, the narrative follows Kanakaraju (played by Varun Tej), a local youth who leads a folk dance group and falls in love with Chaithra (Ritika Nayak), an employee at the regional KIA automobile plant. The plot takes a supernatural turn when a ghost possessing a mysterious Korean artifact enters Kanakaraju’s body, causing uncontrollable changes in his behavior. Alongside his best friend Kishtappa (Satya), Kanakaraju must travel to South Korea to solve the spirit’s backstory and free himself.
The movie stood out due to its unusual blend of Rayalaseema local culture with Korean supernatural themes. Director Merlapaka Gandhi relied heavily on situational humor, with actor Satya’s comedic timing serving as one of the primary highlights for viewers. The film’s musical score, composed by Thaman S, also supported its theatrical box-office run.
