Kagaznagar continues to await an official bus depot despite generating significant passenger revenue for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The region currently depends on the lone depot in Asifabad, established in 1932. Without a dedicated facility in the town, thousands of passengers travelling daily across the Sirpur Assembly constituency continue to face persistent commuting difficulties, limited services and transportation challenges every day.
Passengers traveling from rural villages, industrial units, and neighboring towns lack frequent bus options to reach their daily destinations. Many commuters are forced to depend on private carriers like auto-rickshaws, cars, and jeeps, which routinely charge exorbitant fares. Although state authorities allocated a 4.5-acre parcel near Trishul Pahad for the project during the 1990s, construction never commenced, leaving the vacant land vulnerable to potential encroachment.
What Transit Upgrades Are Stalled Around Kagaznagar?
Beyond the missing depot, the existing Telangana’s Kagaznagar bus stand requires urgent modernization to address narrow boarding areas and insufficient passenger amenities. A recent forty-lakh rupee modernization proposal remains stuck in administrative paperwork after tendering processes failed to launch. Furthermore, historic regional centers such as Sirpur town and remote villages like Bejjur continue to operate without basic bus station facilities, causing widespread public frustration.
Local legislators recently raised the infrastructure crisis in the State Legislative Assembly, urging immediate budget allocations to construct the depot and upgrade passenger stands. Community leaders continue calling on state officials to safeguard the earmarked land, complete pending tenders, and establish reliable public transit services across Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
