A severe case of Jamui like public harassment incident surfaced in Bihar after a viral video captured a minor girl being harassed on a roadside in Samastipur district. The incident occurred on Dam Bypass Road in Jagatsinghpur village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Karpoorigram police station.
The minor girl and her male companion had stopped along the bypass road to take photographs when a group of local men approached them. The group aggressively surrounded the pair, verbalized abuse, and physically prevented the girl from leaving the spot.
Samastipur Police arrested four individuals identified as Rahul Kumar, Awadhesh Paswan, Vikas Sharma, and Rambabu Sahni following targeted raids in Jagatsinghpur. Local law enforcement officers took direct cognisance of the fifty-six second video clip circulating across social media platforms before making the swift arrests.
How Did Police Respond To The Viral Incident?
Samastipur Superintendent of Police Arvind Pratap Singh ordered the immediate registration of a formal First Information Report upon verifying the incident’s video footage. The local police team initiated detailed interrogation of the four detained suspects to establish individual criminal liability and determine if additional accomplices participated in the assault.
The Samastipur roadside assault occurred just days after a strikingly similar molestation case was reported in Jamui district, where a female student was harassed on camera. The back-to-back incidents have heightened security concerns regarding female safety on public roads, prompting senior police officials to order increased patrolling along vulnerable bypass routes throughout the region.
