Top leaders of the opposition alliance convened in New Delhi for a critical INDIA bloc strategy meeting on CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The meeting aimed to finalize a cohesive action plan for a nationwide agitation regarding alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision process and discuss moving a parliamentary removal notice against the Chief Election Commissioner.
The primary focus centers on alleged voter roll manipulation and procedural lapses during the Special Intensive Revision exercise conducted by the Election Commission. Opposition parties claim these actions compromise electoral fairness and have agreed to draft a formal motion seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Why Did DMK And AAP Skip The INDIA Bloc Gathering?
Regional allies like the DMK and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) opted out of the formal INDIA Bloc meeting to maintain organizational independence and handle local political dynamics. However, both parties clarified that they remain aligned on constitutional matters and will firmly back any parliamentary motion seeking the Chief Election Commissioner’s removal.
High-profile figures attending the talks included Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, alongside Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and representatives from the Samajwadi Party, Left parties, NCP Sharadchandra Pawar, and Shiv Sena UBT.
Alliance leaders agreed to organize coordinated street demonstrations across major state capitals starting early next month. Simultaneously, legal experts within the bloc are reviewing the draft impeachment notice to ensure multi-party consensus before submitting it to Parliament leaders.
