The Telangana government has taken a major financial step as the state to pay two DA arrears installments for public sector employees and pensioners. Clearing the pending Dearness Allowance allowances for January 2024 and July 2024 requires a total financial outlay of 6,174 crore rupees to cover accumulated arrears. This policy implementation brings substantial relief to thousands of public workers who have been awaiting financial clearance on their long-overdue allowance updates.
The government requires 6,174 crore rupees to clear arrears covering 33 months for the January 2024 installment and 27 months for the July 2024 installment. Furthermore, sanctioning these two DA installments will increase the state’s ongoing expenditure by 208 crore rupees per month, translating to an additional annual outlay of approximately 2,500 crore rupees for the treasury.
When Will Telangana Employees Receive Increased Salaries?
The total amount corresponding to both DA installments will be credited alongside the October salary on November 1 for public employees in Telangana. Minister Ponguleti announced that accumulated arrears will be disbursed in structured installments, with union leaders expecting direct deposits into General Provident Fund accounts. The Finance Department is set to issue detailed orders shortly, providing complete operational guidelines regarding the exact payment schedule and fund allocation mechanisms.
The approval of two DA installments yields a 6.37% overall salary hike, meaning an employee drawing a basic pay of 1 lakh rupees will gain an additional 6,370 rupees monthly. Part-time assistants and Village Revenue Assistants receive a temporary monthly increase of 100 rupees effective from January 1, 2024. In cases where an employee or pensioner has passed away, all pending arrears will be paid directly to their legal heirs.
