Amaravati quantum computing is scheduled to begin on February 3, 2027, according to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, as the State advances its ambitious Quantum Valley initiative in the capital region. The project is designed to build an ecosystem connecting quantum computing infrastructure with research, industry, academic institutions, startups and skilled professionals. Andhra Pradesh has partnered with technology companies including IBM and Tata Consultancy Services to develop the Quantum Valley Tech Park. Tata Consultancy Services.

IBM and TCS previously announced plans to deploy an IBM Quantum System Two featuring a 156-qubit Heron processor at the park. The companies described it as the largest quantum computer planned for deployment in India.Construction of the Quantum Valley Tech Park began in February 2026. IBM said members of the technology park can access its quantum computers through the cloud while physical infrastructure is being completed. TCS has also been working on quantum algorithms, applications and workforce development.

Amaravati Quantum Project Targets Research And Innovation

The Amaravati project is expected to support research and practical applications across areas including life sciences, materials science, supply chains, energy optimisation, cryptography and sustainable manufacturing. These fields are being explored for problems where quantum computing could eventually complement conventional computing systems. The initiative also aligns with India’s National Quantum Mission, which seeks to strengthen domestic capabilities in quantum technologies. Andhra Pradesh intends to use the project to attract researchers, technology companies, investment and specialised talent.

TCS will play a major role in developing industry-focused applications and hybrid computing approaches combining classical and quantum systems. Researchers, academic institutions and industry specialists are expected to gain access to IBM’s quantum resources through the collaboration. Tata Consultancy Services
Naidu’s February 3 timeline provides a specific target for the next stage of the project. The broader goal is to establish Amaravati as a centre where quantum infrastructure, research, skills and commercial applications can develop together.
