Andhra Pradesh housing programme advanced as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation for three lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin 2.0 at Burripalem in Guntur district.Chouhan announced that the Centre would sanction another six lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh. He said three lakh additional houses would be approved as the ongoing batch nears completion, followed by another three lakh, taking the overall commitment to nine lakh houses.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh aims to achieve full housing coverage by 2029. He said the Centre had initially sanctioned about 75,000 houses under the regular quota, but the allocation increased to three lakh following a special request from the State government. The two leaders also launched a pilot project using 3D concrete printing technology for rural housing.
Andhra Pradesh Eyes Expansion Of 3D Housing Technology
Andhra Pradesh plans to expand 3D concrete printing technology for housing if the pilot project proves successful, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said. He also highlighted efforts to distribute house sites and resolve long-pending land issues for eligible families. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured continued Central support for housing and rural development while highlighting farmer assistance through PM-KISAN and the State’s Annadata Sukhibhava programme.
The housing announcement strengthens the State’s broader goal of providing permanent homes to eligible families. The immediate focus will be completing the first three lakh PMAY-G houses before additional allocations are taken up.With additional Central commitments and new construction technology, Andhra Pradesh is positioning housing as a major welfare and development priority. The progress of the first phase and the 3D-printing pilot will determine how quickly the programme expands toward its nine-lakh-house target.
