Atmospheric conditions across India show contrasting patterns as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) tracks the progressive withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. While several southern and eastern states prepare for active precipitation, the northern plains continue experiencing warm, dry autumnal conditions. Official IMD weather bulletins indicate localized cloud cover and isolated heavy rainfall events targeting specific coastal regions as seasonal weather patterns shift across the peninsula.
Why Has IMD predicted Rain In Kerala And Karnataka Today?
The meteorology department highlighted active trough line formations and atmospheric instability across southern peninsular India. Isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds are expected across Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and coastal sectors today and will expected to continue till the week. Fishermen and residents along coastal stretches have been advised to monitor local weather warnings closely during this period.
Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab will remain predominantly dry with clear, sunny skies and moderate daytime temperatures. Weather scientists confirm that the ongoing withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from northwest India ensures stable dry air conditions, preventing immediate widespread precipitation in northern urban centers.
Aside from peninsular states, light to moderate scattered showers are predicted for Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal. Widespread rainfall activity will also persist across northeastern states including Assam and Meghalaya, maintaining damp conditions as seasonal monsoon currents shift southeastward.
