on

BCCI has invited applications for positions on India’s senior men’s national selection committee following the completion of chief selector Ajit Agarkar’s tenure, beginning an important transition in the country’s cricket selection structure. The BCCI selector applications process has opened as the board prepares to reshape the panel responsible for choosing India’s squads across formats. According to the recruitment notice, interested candidates must submit their applications by October 20.

The process follows the completion of Agarkar’s tenure as chairman of the senior men’s selection committee. His departure creates an important vacancy at a time when Indian cricket is preparing for major bilateral series and global tournaments.Agarkar was appointed chief selector in 2023. During his tenure, the selection committee handled several significant decisions involving India’s Test, ODI and T20I squads while managing transitions involving senior and emerging players.

BCCI Sets Eligibility Rules For New Selectors

BCCI’s selection panel under former India pacer Ajit Agarkar oversaw a successful period for the national team in major ICC competitions, balancing experienced players with emerging talent. For the new selector positions, candidates must satisfy the board’s eligibility requirements, including the prescribed number of international or first-class matches. Applicants must also meet BCCI’s retirement-related conditions before being considered for roles on the senior men’s national selection committee.

The selection committee carries significant responsibility because its members choose national squads, monitor player performances and coordinate with the Indian team management. The new appointments could therefore influence India’s squad planning across all three formats. The application process is expected to be followed by scrutiny and interviews before the successful candidates are finalised. BCCI will assess applicants based on playing experience, cricket knowledge and suitability for the selection role.

Attention will particularly focus on who succeeds Agarkar if the board appoints a new chairman. The incoming selection setup will face important decisions involving squad combinations, workload management and the development of emerging players. With applications now invited, BCCI has formally started the process of shaping the next phase of India’s senior men’s selection committee.
