The CBI(Central Bureau of Investigation) executed searches after the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the agency to register a formal case regarding alleged administrative corruption. Investigating officers examined premises linked to Rajbir Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, following material provided by the Enforcement Directorate.
The investigation stems from allegations regarding unauthorized interference in official government department operations. Key charges involve improper influence over government transfers, postings of public officials, administrative approvals, and state tender allocation processes.
Why Is Bhagwant Mann Opposing The CBI Raid?
The CBI conducted a raid at the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD amid corruption allegations. Mann publicly rejected all allegations and strongly criticized the operation on social media platforms. He claimed the CBI raids were part of election preparations by central authorities, alleging that federal enforcement agencies were being misused to malign his state administration and damage his political standing among voters.
The legal proceedings followed a Public Interest Litigation filed after state police failed to register an initial report based on federal agency communications. While the Punjab state government has moved to challenge the High Court decision before the Supreme Court, central investigative teams continue gathering documentary evidence and analyzing financial records associated with the ongoing probe.
