Abhishek Sharma Smashes Record 30-Ball Century In Delhi

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma created history by smashing a 30-ball century against Afghanistan in the third T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. He scored 108 runs off 34 balls, including nine boundaries and 11 sixes, with 102 runs coming from boundaries alone. Sharma broke Rohit Sharma’s record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian and became the fastest century-maker among Test-playing nations.

Abhishek delivered a historic performance in the third T20 International against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The left-handed batter reached his century in just 30 balls, setting the record for the fastest T20I century by an Indian cricketer and the fastest among players from Test-playing nations.

Sharma’s dominant innings featured nine boundaries and 11 sixes, accumulating 102 of his total runs solely through boundaries. He was eventually dismissed for 108 runs off 34 balls after being caught by wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz off Rashid Khan. This marked his third career century in the T20I format.

By reaching three figures in 30 deliveries, Abhishek Sharma surpassed former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s national record of 35 balls, set against Sri Lanka in Indore back in 2017. The performance also placed him ahead of South Africa’s David Miller and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.

In the overall international T20 record books, Sharma’s 30-ball century stands as the third-fastest in history, behind Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan (27 balls) and Turkey’s Mohammad Fahad (29 balls).
