The Telangana Congress show-cause notice to Forest Minister Konda Surekha over her daughter Konda Sushmitha’s criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has exposed deep internal divisions. Senior leaders questioned why a minister was held liable for her adult daughter’s remarks and alleged selective targeting of Backward Classes leaders. TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud maintained that candidate decisions rest strictly with the Congress Working Committee, asserting that indiscipline will face consequences as internal dissent continues to grow.
A show-cause notice issued by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Disciplinary Action Committee to Endowments and Forest Minister Konda Surekha has triggered sharp divisions and open dissent within the ruling state party unit. The disciplinary proceeding follows public statements made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha, who directly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over candidate projections for the Parkal Assembly constituency.
According to reports by media, the notice has drawn strong objections from a section of senior party leaders at Gandhi Bhavan. Detractors argue that Sushmitha is an adult and that any formal inquiry should have been directed to her directly rather than holding a sitting cabinet minister accountable for family members’ remarks. Internal critics questioned the procedural rationale, highlighting that holding a minister responsible sets an inconsistent administrative standard.
The episode has also ignited debates over fair treatment and caste equity within the state organization. Several leaders alleged selective targeting of Backward Classes (BC) representatives, pointing out that other prominent leaders—including Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy—have repeatedly criticized government actions without facing comparable disciplinary notices. They questioned whether similar notices would be issued to other cabinet ministers for statements made by their relatives.
As reported by news outlets, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud addressed the controversy in Nizamabad, urging restraint across all factions. Goud clarified that electoral candidate selections remain the sole prerogative of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and warned that public indiscipline damages party cohesion. The escalating controversy underscores widening factional fault lines that continue to challenge party unity across Telangana.
