A major internal dispute has emerged within the ruling Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) after its Disciplinary Action Committee issued a show cause notice to Environment and Forest Minister Konda Surekha. The action stems from public remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha, who openly criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding ticket allocations and constituency affairs in Parkal.
The disciplinary action has drawn mixed reactions from party leaders, leading to intense debates within the party unit. A prominent section of senior leaders questioned the procedural logic of serving a disciplinary notice on Minister Surekha for statements made by her adult daughter. Party insiders argued that if Sushmitha is an active Congress member, the notice should have been addressed directly to her, and if she is not, holding her mother politically accountable creates an unusual precedent.
Beyond the procedural debate, concerns regarding transparency and selective enforcement have surfaced.
