AP State Election Commission has dismissed reports claiming that local body elections would be postponed by two months, describing messages circulating on social media and messaging platforms as unverified and fabricated. Officials clarified that preparations for rural and urban local body elections across Andhra Pradesh are continuing without delay and urged people to rely on official updates.
The election body responded to widely circulated online posts claiming that local elections would face a two-month delay pending legal clearances over electoral rolls and reservation quotas. Commission officials clarified that no such delay exists and confirmed that viral schedule images were never generated or approved by the state election authority.
AP Election Authority Issues Warning Over Fake Schedules
AP State Election Commission warned that creating, sharing or circulating fake, misleading or unauthorised local-body election schedules in the Commission’s name could invite legal action under applicable laws, including cyber-law provisions. It urged the public and political parties to rely only on official press releases, press conferences and authorised communications.
Administrative preparations remain underway following recent High Court orders dismissing petitions against ward delimitations. State election officials confirm that official election dates will be announced publicly through formal press conferences and official press releases published on the commission web portal
