AP govt sells subsidized onions statewide through Rythu Bazaars at a subsidized rate of ₹35 per kilogram to protect households from rising inflation. The state government initiated this market intervention program to combat sharp price hikes in the open retail market, where onion rates surged between ₹60 and ₹70 per kilogram.
According to Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, consumers must present an Aadhaar card or ration card at designated counters. Each family is permitted to purchase a maximum quota of two kilograms per month at the discounted ₹35 rate.
