BRS president KTR warned of agitation over the Jurala water shortage, urging the Telangana government to immediately release water to protect drying crops. Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said several agricultural fields are nearing critical harvest stages. He stressed that further delays could result in significant crop losses and increase economic hardship for farming communities in affected areas.
KTR stated that around 248 TMCft of Krishna river water was available to Telangana this year, but the administration utilized only 28 TMCft. He pointed out that inefficiency and negligence caused large quantities of water to flow downstream to neighboring regions while local fields remained dry. The BRS leader demanded the immediate operationalization of the Kannepalli and Narlapur pump houses to channel water directly into the main canals.
BRS KTR Urges Govt To Act On Water Shortage
BRS KTR advised the state administration to initiate immediate diplomatic discussions with neighboring Karnataka to release water from Almatti and Narayanapur reservoirs. He emphasized that the government should prioritize maintaining uninterrupted water and power supplies rather than using police force to detain protesting farmers. Similar water deficit conditions were also reported at the Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam project sites, requiring quick administrative action across multiple districts.
Addressing recent site visits by ruling party leaders, Rama Rao welcomed any lawful inquiry into asset allegations and reiterated demands for a judicial probe by a sitting judge. He challenged officials to publish survey numbers regarding land claims in Sircilla instead of making unverified political statements. Replying to media queries, KTR maintained that the administration must stop distracting the public and focus entirely on protecting agricultural yields across the state.
