Delhi Tightens Security Ahead Of CJP Demonstration
Delhi is preparing for a proposed CJP protest involving student groups demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over electoral roll revision concerns. Opposition parties have questioned the process, while the Election Commission and BJP have rejected allegations of political manipulation. Delhi Police denied permission for the demonstration, citing procedural and security concerns. However, organisers have indicated plans to proceed with the protest despite restrictions.
Additional police deployment, barricades and restrictions around central Delhi are expected to affect commuting. Traders have also expressed concerns about disruption to businesses, although there is no confirmed citywide order requiring every market to close.Parents, students and commuters should check notices from their institutions and official transport advisories before travelling on Saturday. The changes reflect targeted precautionary arrangements rather than a blanket closure of all educational institutions across the national capital.
