Dulquer Salmaan has reacted to I’m Game’s box-office failure, accepting responsibility for the film’s disappointing theatrical performance while responding directly to criticism from fans.During an interaction on X, a fan asked Dulquer whether he had read an analysis explaining what went wrong with the movie. The actor acknowledged the criticism and said the observations were largely accurate.
Dulquer explained that filmmakers can believe they have done everything correctly during production, but external factors can sometimes change the final outcome. He also pointed out that analysing a finished movie is easier than navigating the challenges involved in actually making one.The actor stressed that filmmaking does not have a guaranteed formula for success. According to Dulquer, nobody begins a project intending to make a bad film. He ultimately accepted responsibility for I’m Game’s result and asked the fan to blame him rather than others involved with the production.
Dulquer Salmaan I’m Game Falls Short Of Expectations
Dulquer Salmaan returned as a Malayalam lead with I’m Game after King of Kotha, creating significant expectations around the Nahas Hidhayath-directed fantasy action thriller. The film received mixed responses following its theatrical release. Several early reactions praised Dulquer’s performance, action sequences, visuals and the first half, while criticism largely focused on the second half, with some viewers finding the narrative increasingly predictable after the interval.
The film also faced distribution problems on its opening day. Several dubbed-language screenings were cancelled in Hyderabad after Digital Cinema Packages were not delivered to theatres on time.I’m Game was produced by Dulquer under his Wayfarer Films banner. The cast includes Antony Varghese, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Vinay Forrt, Parth Tiwari and Samyuktha Vishwanathan.Dulquer’s response has now drawn attention because the actor-producer publicly acknowledged audience criticism instead of distancing himself from the film’s commercial performance.
