Sri Lanka Denies India Sweep As 2nd Test Ends In Draw

The second Test between India and Sri Lanka (INDvsSL) ended in a draw at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground in Colombo. Despite India enforcing the follow-on after taking a 213-run lead, a resolute unbeaten 133 by Sonal Dinusha alongside Pasindu Sooriyabandara’s 92 helped Sri Lanka post 429/9 on Day 5. India secured the two-match Test series 1-0 following their victory in Galle. Devdutt Padikkal was named Player of the Series.

The second Test match played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo ended in a draw on the fifth day. Set a huge target after India declared their first innings at 503/9 and enforced the follow-on, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 290 in their first innings and reached 429/9 in their second innings. The draw allowed India to win the two-match Test series 1-0, having earned a 165-run victory in the first Test at Galle.

INDvsSL: Sonal Dinusha heroic knock

For India, top-order batter Devdutt Padikkal scored 117 while wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 115 in the first innings. Rishabh Pant also added 63 runs. For Sri Lanka, middle-order batter Sonal Dinusha played a heroic knock, scoring 103 in the first innings and an unbeaten 133 off 264 balls in the second innings to deny India a series sweep. Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar picked up three wickets each in Sri Lanka’s second innings.

Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha was named Player of the Match for his game-saving double centuries (103 & 133*) in the second Test. Indian top-order batter Devdutt Padikkal won the Player of the Series award after scoring 328 runs across the two Tests at an average of 109.33, including two centuries.
