Israel Probes Flydubai Attack As Motive Remains Unknown

on

Israel officials are examining the Flydubai attack as authorities investigate why a co-pilot allegedly assaulted the captain of flight FZ1073 and apparently attempted to crash the Israel-bound aircraft. The flight was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with more than 170 people aboard when the cockpit incident occurred. Israeli officials said the co-pilot stabbed the captain, causing the aircraft to plunge nearly 14,000 feet before control was regained.

The United Arab Emirates has launched a formal investigation because the aircraft is registered in the UAE. Attorney-General Hamad Al Shamsi ordered a specialised prosecution team to examine the circumstances and causes of the incident.Investigators will examine the attacker’s motives and determine whether the incident had any connection to terrorist activity, prior planning or external direction. UAE authorities have urged the public to rely on official information and avoid speculation while the investigation continues.

Israel PM Calls For Answers In Flydubai Attack Probe

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would seek to get to the root of the incident and could participate in the investigation. He also cautioned that it was too early to determine whether anyone else was involved. The motive therefore remains unresolved. No external state, organisation or accomplice has been confirmed as responsible by investigators.

The Flydubai attack investigation is now focused on establishing what prompted the cockpit violence, whether it was premeditated and whether the suspect acted independently. The incident has also raised aviation security questions, while Flydubai has called for restraint until authorities establish the facts surrounding the attack.
