KTR Sets September 14 Deadline For Water

on

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KTR issued an ultimatum to the Telangana government regarding irrigation supplies. Speaking at Miryalaguda, Rao set a September 14 deadline for officials to release a clear water-release schedule for the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal. He warned that if the state administration fails to act, he will lead a massive foot march with thousands of local farmers from Kodad to Haliya, protesting against severe crop losses across Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Khammam districts.

Addressing a massive gathering during a protest in Miryalaguda, the BRS leader pointed out that the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir currently holds nearly one hundred eighty thousand million cubic feet of water. Despite adequate storage levels, local agricultural communities across Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Khammam face standing crop failure due to stagnant canal releases, creating an urgent crisis for ayacut farmers.

What Will Happen If KTR Govt Fails To Meet Deadline?

The BRS chief announced KTR that if the state administration fails to publish a comprehensive water distribution schedule, he will lead a protest foot march. Drawing inspiration from a historical two thousand three march undertaken by party founder K Chandrashekar Rao, the planned padayatra will cover the stretch from Kodad to Haliya alongside thousands of affected farmers.

KTR criticized the ruling Congress administration for failing to deliver on key rural promises, including loan waivers, input subsidies, and crop bonus assurances. Opposition leaders allege that the delay in releasing left canal water reflects negligence toward local agricultural needs despite sufficient reservoir storage.

The impending deadline has drawn widespread attention to regional water management policies and agricultural grievances in southern Telangana. With local farming communities awaiting an official response before September 14, the political standoff over Nagarjuna Sagar water distribution continues to intensify across the state.
