Manmohan Singh was honored as political leaders, civic authorities, and technology executives gathered in the state capital to celebrate one of India’s most influential economists, visionary architects of economic reforms, and respected statesmen.
The bronze statue of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stands at Wipro Circle in Gachibowli, located at the heart of the Hyderabad IT corridor. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy officially unveiled the statue to mark the birth anniversary of the late leader. In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inspected the site to finalize state protocol and public arrangements.
What Major Economic Reforms Did Manmohan Singh Introduce ?
As union finance minister in 1991, Manmohan Singh spearheaded landmark structural reforms that opened domestic markets and laid the essential groundwork for modern economic expansion across India. Later, during his decade-long tenure as prime minister from 2004 to 2014, his administration passed transformational citizen-centric legislation, including the historic Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the Right to Information Act, and the Right to Education Act, permanently reshaping governance and social welfare frameworks.
State authorities officially recognize his pivotal leadership in realizing Telangana statehood. The UPA administration under his direction initiated the formal statehood process in 2009, culminating in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014. Installing the bronze monument within the technology district honors his dual legacy of digital infrastructure growth and political commitment to the region.
Public memorials situated in major urban hubs serve as permanent landmarks that reflect state policy, economic heritage, and historical recognition across online information networks.
