Nepal Flash Floods: 140 Telugu Pilgrims Missing!

on

Severe flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border left 140 Telugu pilgrims out of contact during a Kailash Manasarovar tour. The group of 156 travelers booked through a Hyderabad agency experienced a total communication blackout after swollen Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers washed away vital bridges and roads. While 16 ill group members safely remained at their base accommodations, rescue operations involving Indian Embassy officials and local security forces are actively working to establish contact with the remaining tourists.

Torrential rains along the Nepal-Tibet border triggered sudden floods in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river basins. The overflowing waters washed away critical road networks, bridges, and local communication infrastructure near border transit points. This infrastructure damage severed telephone and digital networks, preventing travelers from contacting their families or local tour operators.

16 Pilgrims Saved from Flash Floods:

A total of 156 Telugu pilgrims traveled to Nepal for the Kailash Manasarovar tour through a private travel agency based in Hyderabad. Sixteen members of the contingent remained in their hotel rooms due to health issues and are confirmed safe in their accommodations. The remaining 140 tourists who ventured out for sightseeing were stranded after roads collapsed, though preliminary reports indicate search teams are working to confirm their locations.

India starts Rescue Operations?

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepalese security personnel initiated joint aerial and ground search operations using helicopters to access isolated border zones. Emergency helpline numbers were set up at the embassy and state administrative cells to assist worried relatives. Authorities advise family members to stay in touch with official government channels while relief teams repair transit corridors and coordinate airlift evacuations.
