Police Hunt Shooting Coach After Family Suicide

on

The Andhra Pradesh police have launched a massive manhunt for Sadikh Khan, the founder and coach of a rifle shooting academy in Kakinada, following the tragic suicide of a government employee and his family members. Ten special police teams across Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada have been formed to track down the absconding coach.
The tragedy unfolded on Sunday night when 61-year-old K. Nooka Raju, an Assistant Engineer in the Panchayat Raj Department from Pithapuram, jumped into the Godavari River from the Road-cum-Rail bridge in Rajamahendravaram alongside his 58-year-old wife Meena, 38-year-old daughter Sowjanya, and 10-year-old grandson Karthikya Reddy. While local fishermen rescued the young boy after finding him unconscious on a river island, rescue teams retrieved Raju’s body on Monday evening. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force and expert divers continue search operations for the missing mother and daughter.
Investigators recovered a suicide note from Raju’s vehicle addressed to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police. The letter detailed relentless harassment by Khan following the recent death of Sowjanya’s husband, Jagdish Reddy. Raju alleged that Khan pressured his daughter into a relationship, took their family valuables, and issued death threats against Raju and his grandson when they resisted his advances. Based on the note and the surviving grandson’s statement, authorities registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment of suicide.
The case deepened further after Sowjanya’s father-in-law, Bhaskar Reddy, filed a fresh police complaint alleging that Khan murdered Jagdish Reddy on July 2 by injecting a lethal substance before attempting to get closer to Sowjanya. Letters found inside the car are currently being examined by forensic teams. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan directed top district police officials to speed up the investigation and ensure swift justice.
