Rahul Gandhi questions Form 6 modification executed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) amid escalating political controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha raised severe allegations today, claiming that digital alterations to voter registration software occurred without statutory consensus among election commissioners.
Why Is Rahul Gandhi Seeking Action Against TCS Officials?
In a public message shared on social media platform “X”, Rahul Gandhi asked who within the poll panel ordered software vendor Tata Consultancy Services to make changes to the online Form 6 application process. He further questioned who signed off on the decision at TCS and asked whether officials were pressured into executing the controversial software modifications.
The confrontation arose over an additional declaration attached to Form 6 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, requiring new voter applicants to provide details linking themselves or their family members to earlier voter rolls. Opposition parties alleged that the requirement illegally excluded eligible citizens from registering on the voter portal.
The Election Commission recently withdrew the additional declaration from Form 6 portals in states where the intensive revision completed. However, opposition parties, led by the INDIA bloc, announced nationwide protests, district marches, and plans to meet the President to highlight alleged irregularities in voter roll management.
