Russia Signals More Ukraine Attacks After Zelenskiy Comments

on

Russia will intensify strikes on Ukraine following President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s pledge to increase attacks on Russian oil refineries, marking another escalation in the continuing war.The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces would step up attacks on military facilities, defence industry sites and infrastructure connected to those operations in Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine. Moscow announced the move after Zelenskiy discussed Ukraine’s strategy during an interview.

Zelenskiy said Ukrainian forces would double down on attacks against Russian oil refineries. He described the strategy as a response to Moscow’s intensified air campaign against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. The Ukrainian president said Kyiv would not deliberately target civilians.Russia, however, said its recent attacks were carried out in response to what it described as Ukrainian strikes on civilian targets inside Russian territory. Both Moscow and Kyiv deny intentionally targeting civilians during the conflict.

Russia Targets Kyiv Infrastructure As Conflict Escalates

Russia has intensified strikes on infrastructure in Kyiv, with recent attacks hitting bridges across the Dnipro River and disrupting movement for the capital’s roughly three million residents as winter approaches. The escalation highlights the growing role of energy and infrastructure targets in the war. Ukraine is attacking Russian oil refineries to increase economic and logistical pressure, while Moscow says its strikes target facilities supporting Ukraine’s military and defence industry.

The renewed escalation raises concerns about further damage to essential infrastructure and worsening conditions for civilians. With both sides signalling continued attacks, the conflict appears set to enter another intense phase as winter approaches. The competing strategies also underline how attacks far behind the front lines are increasingly shaping the wider military campaign.International attention remains focused on whether the expanding strike campaigns will deepen humanitarian pressures or alter the battlefield balance in coming months.
