Sigma screen count has become a talking point ahead of the film’s October 2 theatrical release, with lead actor Sundeep Kishan expressing disappointment over the number of screens allocated to the action-adventure.Sundeep indicated that the team had expected wider theatrical availability considering the film’s scale, promotional activity and release plans. The actor’s comments come as several movies prepare to compete for screens during the Gandhi Jayanti holiday period.
Sigma marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil actor and politician Vijay. The film stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead, with Faria Abdullah playing the female lead. Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan and Yog Japee appear in supporting roles. The film is produced by Subaskaran under Lyca Productions. Mythri Movie Distributors and NVR Cinema are handling its release in the Telugu States. Music composer Thaman has scored the soundtrack.
Why Did Sigma Receive Fewer Screens?
The October 2 release window is unusually crowded, with multiple Telugu and dubbed films scheduled to arrive simultaneously. Eight movies were reported to be targeting Telugu audiences during the long weekend, creating intense competition for single screens and multiplex shows.Despite the limited initial allocation, Sundeep remains hopeful that strong audience response can improve the film’s theatrical position. Positive word of mouth can encourage exhibitors to add shows when demand rises after release.
Sigma has already completed its censor formalities and received a U/A 16+ certificate. Its approved runtime is 147 minutes, or two hours and 27 minutes. The film has also received promotional support from prominent industry figures. Chiranjeevi attended its Hyderabad pre-release event as chief guest, adding visibility to the Telugu campaign.
With its release approaching, Sigma’s theatrical performance will depend significantly on audience reception and whether positive word of mouth translates into increased shows. For Sundeep Kishan and the team, securing additional screens after release could become crucial to expanding the film’s reach during the competitive holiday weekend.
