A joyous family celebration turned into a horrifying loss after a late-night road mishap took two lives on Hyderabad’s busy Tank Bund stretch. The incident claimed the lives of six-year-old Sarakshi and her 41-year-old relative Viswanath, both residents of Jonnabanda in Old Alwal. The tragedy struck during the early morning hours of Sunday while the family was out celebrating the young girl’s sixth birthday.
The family had initially gone to a movie theater in Kukatpally before driving towards the iconic Hussainsagar lake at night. They parked their car near the Maqdoom Mohiuddin statue around 2:15 AM to cut a birthday cake along the lakefront promenade. As Viswanath carried Sarakshi while crossing the road towards the waterfront, a speeding lorry coming from the Secunderabad direction rammed directly into them.
How Severe Were Injuries In Tank Bund Accident?
The violent Tank Bund impact killed six-year-old Sarakshi instantly due to catastrophic injuries. Viswanath sustained severe multi-organ trauma and was rushed by family and bystanders to Gandhi Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite intensive clinical care, Viswanath succumbed to his fatal injuries later that evening, leaving the entire family in deep mourning following the horrific late-night road tragedy.
Domalguda police immediately registered a criminal case of death due to negligence against the heavy vehicle driver. Law enforcement officers impounded the offending lorry, took the driver into police custody, and launched a comprehensive investigation.
