Telangana Imposes 1-Year Ban On Analogue Paneer

on

Telangana has taken strong regulatory action to prevent adulterated food distribution and protect public health. Official gazette notifications confirm that Telangana has banned analogue paneer for one year, targeting deceptive non-dairy food products and strengthening food safety enforcement across the state.

The regulatory action stems from widespread public health concerns regarding synthetic food substitutes being passed off as genuine dairy products. Recent multi-agency raids conducted by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs alongside local law enforcement units targeted numerous production sites. Inspectors discovered large quantities of loose palm oil, glycerol monostearate, starches, and skimmed milk powder being blended to simulate natural paneer texture at low production costs. Because commercial eateries frequently served these artificial variants without consumer disclosure, authorities invoked emergency powers under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.

How Strict Is Telangana’s Analogue Paneer Ban?

Telangana has prohibited the processing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution and retail sale of non-dairy or analogue paneer in any form. Telangana authorities have directed officials to conduct regular inspections at hotels, restaurants, cloud kitchens and dairy supply facilities. Businesses violating the order could face legal penalties, confiscation of prohibited products and revocation of licences.

Telangana joins states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh in prohibiting artificial dairy imitations that exploit consumer trust. Stricter monitoring ensures that citizens consume authentic, unadulterated milk products across the state.

Rigorous regulatory oversight deters food adulteration practices across urban commercial markets. Sustained enforcement operations ensure transparent food standards and long-term public health protection.
