Operation Bluebird filed petitions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office arguing that X Corp. legally abandoned the “Twitter”, “tweet”, and bird logo trademarks after discontinuing commercial use in 2023. X Corp. filed a trademark infringement lawsuit to protect its legacy branding. During preliminary proceedings in federal court, a judge noted a tentative observation that X appeared to have relinquished rights to the terms, though a final judicial ruling has not been issued.
