Senior Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal submitted her voluntary resignation after completing thirteen years of distinguished public service. She shared her decision through a poignant social media post reflecting on her journey from leaving a corporate career in London to serving rural communities across India. Mittal explained that administrative roles are temporary, but her personal commitment to national development and public welfare remains unchanged as she steps down from her official role as Special Secretary.

IAS Divya Mittal’s Resignation Comes After Her Husband Gagan Deep Singh’s Resignation:

Divya Mittal’s decision follows her husband Gagan Deep Singh’s resignation from the IAS four years prior in 2022 while serving as Joint Director General in the Commerce Ministry. With both spouses stepping away from civil services, her resignation has sparked widespread discussion across administrative and political circles in Uttar Pradesh. Mittal emphasized that standing by justice is a core responsibility and stated that true professional fulfillment comes from upholding human dignity in every administrative decision.

Divya Mittal achieved several milestones during her tenure across various districts in Uttar Pradesh. An alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore, she notably brought piped drinking water to Lahuria Deh village in Mirzapur district seventy-five years after independence. She also developed a free mobile educational application to assist first-generation rural students across Uttar Pradesh. Throughout her postings, including her tenure in Deoria and Lucknow, Mittal prioritized land rights for marginal farmers, accessibility for disabled citizens, and agricultural irrigation access.
